Michael Bernard Fitzgerald & The Philly Cheesesteak in Philly

As a HUGE Michael Bernard Fitzgerald fan, I've had two dreams. 1.) to make a song with this amazing musician, and 2.) to interview him! The former hasn't  quite come true, but the latter recently came to fruition! We hunted down Michael's good friend and manager, Ryan Singer, and made it happen.

MBF is an astounding musician and even better live! Here's what he had to say to the guys from The Indie Leak.

TIL: Briefly describe the excitement that is your current life.

MBF: "Life can always be exciting. Last week I had a philly cheesesteak sandwich in philly. Delicious and exciting. Being on the road is exciting and I think things will only become more exciting when the new record is out."

TIL: What do you think some of your guilty pleasures are musically?

MBF: "I don't feel guilty about any of it. More recently a pleasure that I do not feel guilty about would be the hall and Oates catalogue and Blink 182's "Dude Ranch."

TIL: Do you remember the first song you ever wrote?

MBF: "I don't remember the title, but I know it was in eighth grade and it was probably about a girl

TIL: "What are the down sides of being a working musician?

MBF: "A slightly alternative lifestyle to most. Not having a similar schedule to family and friends or being able to plan too far in the future. Not really a downside, just a difference.
TIL: What keeps you grounded?
MBF: "Family
TIL: What advice do you have for musicians wanting to follow in your steps?
MBF: "Have fun as much as possible.
TIL: What's your biggest pet peeve?
MBF: "Slow drivers in the fast lane. Actually bad drivers in general."
TIL: What instruments do you wish you could play?
MBF: "Drums and piano'TIL: First 5 albums that come to mind (That aren't yours)

Graceland - Paul Simon
Mason Jennings - In The Ever
The Essential: Daryl Hall & John Oates
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Feist - Metals
TIL: Who or what keeps your pursing your own happiness?
MBF: "The adventure"
TIL: What musicians/artists would you love to shout out?
MBF: I'd like to shout out to Bobby Long, just finished a tour with him Friday.

For all things Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Bobby Long or Hall and Oates (HAHA), stay tuned to The Indie Leak.
