DetroitED presents: "Hold The Fort"

Our friends at DetroitED hooked us up with an invite to this historic and record breaking event taking place in the Motor City this weekend!

For those of you who don't know, DetroitED is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create high impact projects that hyper kickstart local communities in Detroit, through art, place-making, participatory experiences and entrepreneurship.

Their event "Hold The Fort" happening this Sunday (5/26) is taking place at the Historic Fort Wayne, will bring together local and global artists, innovators and builders, local food vendors and community groups who will be creating a temporary world that provokes the imagination and stimulates participatory engagement.

Programming for Hold the Fort begins on Sunday May 26th at 12:00 noon and runs through 10:00 pm. Select activations include “Home Mender” by Monica Canilao, “Gon Kirin” mobile installation by Ryan Doyle, a musical house installation by Airlift New Orleans, “Sky Burial-As Above so Below” by Bethany Shorb, Light installations by Kunsthalle-Detroit, and a laser piece by Matthew Schreiber. Also, Sheik ‘N’ Beik, in coordination with local and international artists, will attempt to secure a place in the Guiness Book of World Records, and break the record for the longest back to back DJ set on vinyl. This show called “Fort the Record” aims to promote the vinyl Industry and showcase seven generations of Detroit music.
