Following our last interview with MSU's "The Dobman" we talked a little bit about the music scene, how it was being shaped and some major players that influenced him and other Michigan natives pursuing the same dream. One name that persistently came up was "Crackalack". This 24 year old Father, Producer, Studio Engineer, Video Director, and Musician has been a pivotal player in the Michigan music scene. Running www.onedollarcdduplication.com has really helped from an exposure standpoint as well. From a business setting, to a family setting, this guy here has managed for keep it all together and still come out on top! We caught up with Crackalack, post-ULTRA (UMF - Ultra Music Festival), just to pick his brain for a second!
First of man, how's the music going?
Must is going great. Right now everything is moving so fast it is very hard to keep up.
What gigs would you brag about? Biggest crowd?
As a rapper I've opened for Fabolous, Twista, Young Buck, Petey Pablo, Bone Crusher and Dolla. All that was within a 2 year span but since I've decided to focus on producing instead of rapping so that's my main focus.
Have you produced a song where the rapper has made the song 100x better?
I've produced a lot of good songs. I wouldn't say anyone has made them 100x better but a lot of artist have def did their thing on my beats.
Who do you look up to musical influences?
All the hottest producers n artist currently in the game. Of all time I'd def say 50 cent mostly from a business stand point and character. I like his music also.
Does being a father help or hinder your musical experience?
It gives everything I've always done a PURPOSE. It's amazing.
What instrument do you plan on teaching your child?
I'd love to teach her how to play the piano. Eventually I'd like her and myself to learn the guitar.
What is your ideal vacation, car and celebrity entourage?
Vacation would have to be anywhere warm and with a beach. I'd love to go to Hawaii. Car...Right now I got my eyes on the new Kia 2014 Sorento. I'd have to get that all black everything. Celebrity entourage...The money team would have to be where it's at cuz I'm all about money lol.
If you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?
50 cent "Get Rich Or Die Tryin".
You're a man of many talents and wearer of many hats, which of those do you think most defines you?
I think if you sit back n look at everything I do that is what defines me. I'm a very driven, self motivated go get it let's make it happen today not tomorrow type of person. I taught myself how to do everything when I was focused on rapping n dropping cd's left and right n people started asking how was mixing my songs, who was making my beats, doing my graphics, doing my videos, pressing my cd's so I decided it's time to start making some money and offer my services to everyone n that's what I've done.
Lastly, any shout outs?
