Damien Rice

Ever been through a bad break up? Remember any of the songs you listened to while going through it? Damien Rice is the break up king! He somehow finds a way to make you feel OK with the fact that some bimbo that you loved, just walked out the door. He'll take you from that low and dark place and raise you  into the clouds. His raspy folk voice gives you chills and his finger-style guitar playing will leave you on your knees begging him to keep playing. Beautiful song, beautiful lyrics, beautiful music.

His music can be found at http://damienrice.com/

Ron Pope

The one thing I will give social media, is that it let's me be super close friends with people I don't actually know! HA, but seriously, there is a musician by the name of Ron Pope that sends you flying into a waterfall wondering how you came out dry on the other side. From all the digging through social media back-postings, it looks like Ron Pope is on tour with his fiance playing shows in Europe still. I actually got to see a concert of his when he came to Lansing. Amazing stuff. Formerly, a dedicated front man to the band The District, Ron Pope has since split his personality in two to dedicate time to both Ron Pope and his big band project. I personally learned of Ron Pope through his classic first hit single "Drop In An Ocean". You know those songs you hear in the background of Jersey Shore, or Vampire Diaries...He was one of those guys! And you know those guys who download those songs (WAIT...who are we kidding, you guys are too cool to know weirdos like them), YEAH, I was one of them. To call Ron Pope a rising star would be an insult to the progress he has made thus far. 100K+ fans and growing daily. European tours orchestrated by his team, and winning hearts of fans across multiple generations. I wouldn't be surprised to see this guy sticking around for a long time.

Ron Pope's newest album is available on iTunes. Check him out immediately!

The Mowgli's

So, I was walking down the street one day when my vibes were just coasting around neutral. I just wasn’t really inspired by what was coming out of my headphones. Mind you, after coming off a high of "You and I" by Ingrid Michelson, there's not much you can do top it.

Then it hit me... like a ton of bricks with the words “Can you feel the love?” imprinted on them, I had found my newest KICK OF THE WEEK. From the first catchy riff of The Mowgli’s song “San Francisco” to the beautiful ending with massive crowd vocals, I was caught. I must have listened to this song 100 plus times and shown it to at least 100 more people that day alone. Sang it all through work that day and even suggested covering it with my band. The music they make is life-changing

From their FACEBOOK:

"5 childhood friends from the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, augmented by 3 mid-western transplants, The Mowgli's are a quintessential California band. Inspired by the magnetism of San Francisco, the grind of Los Angeles and the serenity of the Big Sur Coast, their songs are a joyous revival of rock n' roll, a twisting indie-folk dance and a heartfelt protest ballad."

The Mowgli’s are comprised of Michael Vincze (guitar/vocals), Colin Louis Dieden (vocals/guitar/percussion), Katie Jayne Earl (vocals/percussion), Matthew Di Panni (bass/vocals), Josh Hogan (guitar/vocals), Dave Appelbaum (keys/vocals), Spencer Trent (percussion/guitar/melodica/vocals), Andy Warren (drums/percussion/vocals). These guys are by far, my favorite this week!

Their album “Love’s Not Dead” is available via their Bandcamp. I highly encourage anyone looking for a good boost in positive vibes to check these guys out! These guys are truly amazing!
